Mary Massery Clinic

Mary Massery PT, DPT, DSc. is a physical therapist who specializes in pulmonary issues. Her motto is better breathing for better living. Mary’s primary focus is on linking motor behaviors to breathing and/or postural mechanics for both pediatric and adult patient populations. Dr. Massery has been invited to give over 700 professional presentations in 48 US states, 9 Canadian provinces, and 10 countries worldwide.

Massery3During a 2 hour physical therapy consultation with Mary Massery, the physical therapy examination will focus on screening for 1) physical deficits associated with chest wall or postural abnormalities, 2) physical or health deficits associated with persistent respiratory, cardiac and/or gastrointestinal problems such as asthma, brochopulmonary dysplasia, airway restrictions, other breathing problems, congenital heart defects, gastrointestinal reflux, constipation, etc., and/or 3) coordination conflicts between breathing and moving resulting in impairments in activities such as talking, eating, walking or in meeting normal motor milestones.

At the end of the consultation, Mary will provide the client with a written report and a statement. The client can submit to insurance for reimbursement but Mary is Not in-network with any insurance companies, networks, IE or DSCC.

Massery1If physical therapy treatment is recommended, Dr. Massery suggests the report be shared with the local PT who will be treating the client. Mary is unable to be the primary physical therapist due to time constraints and her extensive teaching schedule.

Clients should contact the clinic coordinator, Robin Taucher, ext. 134 if interested in a consultation. The wait to see Mary is usually 4 to 6 months. So if there is interest, get the name on the scheduling/call list ASAP. Just to get on a schedule can take 30 to 60 days. At any time there may be 10 to 20 people to schedule.  Once on the call list, people are not skipped over, nor taken off the list unless requested.

Mary sees clients at Arlington Pediatric Therapy, Arlington Heights once a month. If there is a cancellation people may get in sooner.

Therapists are welcome to accompany the client to the appointment should they want to and many do.
